Family values belong in the family not in politics. My values are my own and I don't want anyone else's forced on me. Religion can't do it because it has no force other than a vague threat of hell. Government can try to do it with laws but that disenfranchises a huge number of the people. I believe having my own values is a constitutional right.

The Institute on Religion and Democracy
If the religious left had prevailed over the religious right this would be a better world. The fairy tales of religion are not evil but the interpretation and implementation can go either way.

Bush's Homophobic Surgeon General Nominee

AlterNet: Rights and Liberties: Falwell and Savage Christians: A Legacy of Hate and Violence
AlterNet: Rights and Liberties: Falwell and Savage Christians: A Legacy of Hate and Violence: "Christians perpetrated the crusades, the inquisition, the slave trade and imperial adventures too numerous to mention. It may be comforting to pat ourselves on the back and consign those behaviors to past centuries. We are living in the 21st century after all. Who would use the name of the Christian God to justify mass killing? A majority of modern day American Christians, that's who."

Evangelicals Search for a Political Savior
Evangelicals Search for a Political Savior - Newsweek National News - MSNBC.com
I think I have the answer to the evangelicals political problem. They say "believe in god" and "trust god" How about "vote for god". They can do it as a write in vote. This way they would do no harm. Actually it would be "do no more harm". They did saddle the country with Bush. The only good that came out of that was to prove Newt Gengrich was wrong when he said "If the Soviet empire still existed, I'd be terrified. The fact is, we can afford a fairly ignorant presidency now.".

Jerry Falwell, faith-based fraud.
Another person that agrees with me. The man was evil and won't be missed by any sane person.

Bush is pro-hate
Apparently, Bush is for hate, as long as you hate the right people.

Attempted Abortion Clinic Bombing, and Hate Speech From The Right
The people doing this call themselves Christians. This is contrary to any teaching that I know of in the bible. I mean the new testament. Although I was raised Catholic I didn't listen that closely. I was busy watching to see if a nun was going to get me. This was back in the 50's and the church was scary, in latin. I do think I got the gist of it though. You are supposed to do good. You are not supposed to do wrong. Killing was at the top of the 10 wrongs even in the crazy old testament.
